What stops you from sharing the principles?
Presented by Molly Gordon
In his book study notes for Modello, Dr. Jack Pransky identifies four ideas that he sees as essential to the impact of Dr. Roger Mills’s work:
- Everyone already has the wisdom to know what is best for them,
- If you truly listen to another, they will eventually listen to themselves.
- Every person is doing the best they know how given the thoughts they have.
- If a person is feeling bad, the best for them is to realize it is just a low mood that will pass, and know it is best not to act at those times.
Many of us have seen in our own lives and in the stories of projects such as Modello the transformative impact of these key ideas. At the same time, many of us have noticed that sometimes we are not as effective as we would like in sharing or catalyzing insight.
What’s up with that?
On April 27th, 2018, I facilitated a pop-up focus group to surface the questions, challenges, and opportunities related to sharing the Principles with our friends family and in our communities.
What is stopping us? And what can be done about it? Can skills and techniques be helpful? How does wisdom in the moment speak?
What is it that you want to learn about engaging with the infinite, formless intelligence and energy of life in the service of greater peace, justice, and wellbeing in the world of form?

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Molly Gordon
Master Certified Coach
I am a Master Certified Coach, Three Principles Practitioner, grandmother, joyfully compulsive knitter, gardener, and devoted cat servant. For nearly 50 years I’ve been involved in community work. In the 1970s I helped found youth service programs in Boise, Idaho. In the 1990s, I worked to build appreciation of and support for the arts and humanities. More recently I have been involved in social justice, youth services, hospice, and community theater. It’s a hodgepodge, and I love it!
I trained as a coach in the tradition of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and hold the ICF’s highest professional credential. When I encountered the Principles, I saw in them the “source code” of ICF coaching, the hidden foundation for everything that worked in what I had learned (and the explanation for everything that didn’t quite work). I envision a time when ICF will explicitly embrace the Principles and incorporate them into its internationally recognized standards for training and practice.
I live with my husband, Miles (to whom I refer as “The Charming Prince” without a shred of irony) and three cats: Scoutmaster Sophie, Princess Catalina, and Lady Isabella Squeak. When I’m not coaching or having adventures with our grandchildren, I garden, knit, and binge shamelessly on Netflix.

Thank YOU!! This has been the most helpful conversation and I am looking forward to learning more…
